“Ring The Bell” is a punchy little breakup anthem that does exactly what it says on the tin — it draws a line, rings the alarm, and walks out the door with its head held high. Blending neo-soul, R&B and a touch of funk, this track slides nicely into that silky space between D’Angelo cool and Lucky Daye flair. There’s clearly a nod to Silk Sonic too, in the way it leans into retro grooves without sounding like a throwback for the sake of it.
Production-wise, the track is tight. The bassline is warm and bouncy, the drums are crisp, and there’s this nice swirl of keys and guitar that gives it a soft shimmer without overpowering the vocals. It’s all been carefully layered — everything has space to breathe, which is refreshing. Nothing feels overcrowded, and the rhythm section does a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of mood.
Vocally, it’s smooth and confident. You can hear that the artist knows what they’re saying and why they’re saying it. The delivery has this quiet swagger — not arrogant, just self-assured, like someone who’s finally seen the light and isn’t looking back. Lyrically, it's simple and relatable. It doesn't try too hard to be poetic, but that works in its favour. It’s the kind of tune that hits different when you’ve finally had enough and need a soundtrack for reclaiming your peace.
If there's anything that holds it back slightly, it’s that the hook could go harder — it’s catchy, but you get the feeling it almost gets there and just needs a tiny bit more bite to truly land. Still, it’s the sort of track that grows on you, and with a few more listens, it does stick.
As the first single off an upcoming EP, “Ring The Bell” is a promising start. It’s clear the artist knows their sound and their influences, and they manage to wear them well without losing their own voice. Whether it’s blasting through your headphones on a walk or soundtracking a late-night moment of clarity, this one feels honest, well-made and worth paying attention to.
Definitely keeping an eye out for the full EP.
