Jaylon’s latest single No Luck feels like a breezy introduction to summer — all sunshine, clean production and easygoing charm. Known for working behind the scenes with heavyweights like Mr Eazi and Odumodublvck, this track marks a proper step into the spotlight for the London-based, Lagos-born producer. And it’s a decent start.
From the jump, No Luck leans into warm, feel-good energy. The chords are bright, the drums bounce along nicely, and the whole thing has that windows-down-on-a-summer-evening feel. It doesn’t try to do too much, which works in its favour. The production is tight and confident, not overcomplicated, but polished enough to carry it through.
Anjeli’s vocals are soft and sweet — she glides through the track with ease, adding the emotional depth it needs without overshadowing the beat. Their chemistry works well and it’s clear this isn’t the first time they’ve collaborated. She knows exactly how to ride the tempo and her delivery keeps things flowing without ever sounding forced.
That said, while the track is undeniably pleasant, it does sit in quite familiar territory. There’s nothing particularly groundbreaking here — and if you’re looking for a song that pushes the sound forward or takes big risks, No Luck doesn’t quite go there. But not every track has to. Sometimes it's enough to just sound good and make you feel light, and Jaylon manages that easily.
Where No Luck succeeds is in its simplicity and vibe. It’s the kind of track you can throw on at a BBQ or during a lazy Sunday afternoon and it’ll do exactly what it’s meant to — keep things mellow, upbeat, and effortlessly cool.
As a first solo outing, it does the job. It puts Jaylon on the map as an artist in his own right, and if the upcoming project Baby Boy continues in this direction with a few more dynamic twists, there’s definitely promise there. For now, No Luckis a solid entry and a nice mood-setter for the months ahead. Keep an eye on him.
