Aliza Li

"Every song I make starts differently, I could hear a beat or just be signing a melody. I don’t have a creative process, just vibes."

Aliza Li, R&B songstress based in Atlanta, is back with a brand new E.P 'Soul X Sushi'. The focus track 'Mirror Me' which has a dreamy and melancholic feel, blends R&B, Soul and Jazz elements resulting in an atmospheric soundscape, where Aliza's stunning vocal range and rhythmic delivery can take center stage.

NEO: Hi Aliza Li. Thanks for featuring on Neo! Tell us; How would you describe your music journey so far?

ALIZA LI: My Journey so far has been challenging but it also has been a great learning experience. I am truly grateful for everything that has happened so far.

NEO: Congratulations on the release of your latest EP! Could you tell us what was the inspiration behind this project?

ALIZA LI: My Music has always been inspired by my life events and this EP was no different. I was going through LIFE at the time and this EP was a product of all my emotions I was feeling and so emotions I didn’t even know I had.

NEO: If you could see anybody live who would it be?

ALIZA LI: I would have to go with my favorite artists Jill Scott or Erykah Badu.

NEO: If you were not an artist what other career would you have gone into?

ALIZA LI: I always wanted to be a veterinarian growing up. I love animals!

NEO: What was the reason behind the title of your focus track ‘Mirror Me’?

ALIZA LI: “Mirror Me” is a hopeless romantic love letter to myself. I want the kind of love I give others shown back to me but deep down I know that I will never get that type of love because there is only one me.

NEO: What is your favourite album of all time, no skips?

ALIZA LI: Erykah Badu – Mamma’s Gun

NEO: What is the first thing people notice about you?

ALIZA LI: Probably my eyes, I got some big eyes.

NEO: What is your creative process like?

ALIZA LI: Every song I make starts differently, I could hear a beat or just be signing a melody. I don’t have a creative process, just vibes.

NEO: For your listeners and followers who are looking for some advice about life, what key advice would you give them?

ALIZA LI: Never settle, go for what you want and the rest will follow.

NEO: What’s next for you?

ALIZA LI: Experimenting with new sounds and finding out what it is I want my sound to be. I think that’s the fun part of being an artist, evolution.
