"Takeshi’s Castle. I love that outdoor kind of stuff"
London based singer-songwriter multi-creative Bea Anderson, recently released her debut EP the Eden project. A truly personal collection, Bea has drawn inspiration from a culmination of life lessons, experiences and present and future intentions that have shaped her journey so far.
Eden is the name that Bea says she intends for her first born. Given that it’s the name of the garden that anecdotally was at the centre of our existence, it feels fitting that she’s attributed it to her first body of work, the opening chapter of sharing her music with the world. “The Eden project is the beginning of me,” she says. “This is me finally stepping out and stepping into myself.” We at Neo Music sat down with Bea to get to know her a bit more
NEO: How would you describe your music journey?
BEA ANDERSON: An Iceberg... as although it's all emerging now, this moment has taken years to get to. It almost feels like this is the part you’d see on top and the ice underwater are my years of preparation.
NEO: Who inspires you musically?
BEA ANDERSON: I love old school RnB & Soul, but in particular, groups. Everyone from Destiny’s Child, Boyz II men, B2K.. ALL of them!!!
NEO: What was the reason behind the title of your last release?
BEA ANDERSON: The project ‘Eden.’ Is a huge milestone for me. It signifies the beginning of a beautiful journey almost like my own Garden of Eden.
NEO: What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
BEA ANDERSON: Inspiring others! We all grew up listening and seeing artists and it these experiences that help shape you as a person. I love that someone might see my journey and either develop their own musical journey or just them in life.
NEO: Do you have any special talents aside from singing?
BEA ANDERSON: Yess! Audio engineering. I went to university to learn how to and literally fell in love with the recording process. The entire project was written and recorded in my bedroom!
NEO: You are left in the world with three songs: what would they be? And why?
BEA ANDERSON: Oh that’s a hard one!

NEO: If you could star in a TV show, what would it be and why?
BEA ANDERSON: Takeshi’s Castle. I love that outdoor kind of stuff and it is HILARIOUS!
NEO: If you had a controller that had the power to rewind or fast forward which one would you press and why?
BEA ANDERSON: Oooo that’s hard.. I can be super impatient at times so I’ll say fast forward. It would be nice to see when certain things will happen for me like marriage, kids etc.
NEO: When you were younger, what did you want to be growing up?
BEA ANDERSON: Someone from CSI! I loved detective shows and dreamt of being one of their investigators.
NEO: What is one thing that you are deeply proud of in your life?
BEA ANDERSON: Graduating university. In 2016 I graduated from university with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Music Performance Management. It was literally the proudest moment of my life. I came to uni saying “I’m going to graduate with a first” and although there’d been SO many hurdles, I overcame and achieved my goal.
