Up and coming soul sensation KeziaSoul from Birmingham has decided to release her first solo single ‘Cup of Tea’ on the 14th February following on from her major success on the ITV hit show, The Voice. After singing her way to WILL.I.AM’s team we sat down on an Instagram Live with her to find out a bit more about her and if she were a snack what would she be and why
NEO: Where did your artist name come from?
KEZIASOUL:My name is actually Kezia and i was in a band called “Genius Collective’ before i became Kezia Soul and I needed to think of a name and i just thought Soul is because i have soul. I literally just blended them together
NEO: What was the reason behind the title of your last release 'Cup Of Tea'?
KEZIASOUL: You know it is the British saying ‘Not your cup of tea’ so when i was writing the song that was on the lines of what i was writing about. It just clicked and that is how my song ‘Cup Of Tea’ came about
NEO: What is the most memorable moment in your career so far?
KEZIASOUL: To date right now it would have to be the voice because i have never been on primetime TV and it was a mad, crazy experience and one that i am probably never going to forget.
NEO: What song would you use as the theme song for your life currently?
KEZIASOUL: This might sound cheesy but maybe Pharell- Happy. That is how I feel right now. It's been a great start to the year and I feel happy. Everything is going good!
NEO: When experiencing a creative block, what do you do to combat it?
KEZIASOUL: Well i wont say on live LOL. Having a break helps but most of my songs are about love songs so if i am having a creative block i will just find someone to break my heart next time round. I write the best songs from these guys breaking my heart
NEO: What is something you used to believe in that you do not believe in any more?
KEZIASOUL: Fairy Tales. When you are a child a fairytale is just easy and when you come to the real world fairy tales really do not exist
NEO: If you were a snack what would you be and why?
KEZIASOUL: I would have to be two snacks. A Curly-Wurly but an expensive one because everyone likes a Curly-Wurly. The second one would be Pringles because once you pop you can't stop lol! Once you keep listening to me you don't want to stop!
NEO: What’s your favourite quote?
KEZIASOUL: I don't really have a favourite quote. But i do like ‘You can copy me, but you can't copy my spirit’
NEO: If you could make a difference in the world, what would you be known for?
KEZIASOUL: I would like to be known for my songs. I would love to have a song that outlived me, a song to be remembered by!
NEO: For your listeners and followers who are looking for some advice about life, what key advice would you give them?
KEZIASOUL: When life gets tough just know you are not alone. There are a lot of people going through hard times but just preserve and push. Keep believing in yourself you've got this! Don’t give up hope!
