Ray Nvvy

RAY NVVY started 2021 with a brand new single titled ‘Tell Me’ from his upcoming project 'Flight Out'. Coming from Camden, London, he blends his Alternative R&B sound with an entrancing story-telling technique which is sure to impress. We sat down with Ray to find out a bit more about him and who he is.

NEO: Where did your artist name come from?

RAY NVVY: My full name is Rainer and some people find it hard to pronounce so i tell them to call me Ray for short. Growing up i would always wear navy clothes so i thought i might as well combine both names as it both represents me as a person and it sounded quite cool

NEO: How would you describe your music journey?

RAY NVVY: I think it has been life changing. I never knew I could fall in love with music. At first i was just making beats and then i decided to start writing and instantly i felt this spark in the booth and i really just fell in love with it. There are a lot of trials and tribulations but they come with the journey and I have accepted that. I would not be where i am today without them

NEO: How long have you been making music?

RAY NVVY: almost 3 years i'm still a baby in the game lol

NEO: Who inspires you musically?

RAY NVVY: There is a lot but they all come from various experiences in my life. Growing up I was listening to 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Omarion, Llyod, then Chris Brown. When I got to college it was Frank Ocean, The Weeknd and in uni it was PARTYNEXTDOOR and Bryson Tiller.

Out of all of them PARTYNEXTDOOR and The Weeknd really resonate with me the most as I have had great experiences when I discovered them.

NEO: What’s life like for you outside of music?

RAY NVVY: Regular really, I work everyday 9-5. I like to chill, hang out with friends and play basketball. I'm just a regular guy

NEO: Do you have any up and coming projects you are working on?

RAY NVVY: The single i recently is part of my wider project. I haven't put an exact date down to when i will be releasing the full project but i want to release a ten track album or shorten it and release an EP. Hopefully summertime it should drop.

NEO: If you were a snack what would you be and why?

RAY NVVY: The sweet and salty popcorn. Sometimes you never know what you are going to taste first right? Either salt or sweet a bit like me.

NEO: What is your favourite series of all time?

RAY NVVY: Prison Break without a doubt! When it was showing on Channel 5 I used to watch it with my mum and recently I went back to watch it and I cannot get over how good it is.

NEO: What is the biggest misconception people have about you?

RAY NVVY: That i am short. For some reason my instagram photos make me look short and people always assume im 5ft 9 or 8 but i am actually 6ft 3

NEO: What do you enjoy most about being a musician?

RAY NVVY: Just being able to create. Music for me is a form of expression; there is no limit, no boundaries. You can create your own vibe and I love that.
