NEO: Hi Sedric. Thanks for featuring on Neo! Tell us; How long have you been making music?

Sedric: Thank you for the love. I’ve been making music for about 4 years professionally. Before that I was mostly just performing and figuring it out.

NEO: Congratulations on your newest release “Could This Be”. We’re so excited to hear it. Could you tell us what inspired you to make this track?

Sedric: It was originally a collaboration between my good friend Noah Slee and producer Qu. Originally I wasn’t thinking of making it a single for the album, but it just felt so good to sing, I wanted to share that feeling with people that love hearing this kind of music from me. Love In You had a similar journey, now it’s at a million streams. Hopefully people feel this one too!

NEO: When experiencing a creative block, what do you do to combat it?

Sedric: Smoke or move on to something else for a while. I don’t feel the pressure to create as much as I used to.

NEO: If you could create a fortune cookie to give to yourself when you were 16, what would it say?

Sedric: In one year, you are going to completely change your life and everything you believe about yourself and the world - move to New York City, fall in and out of love and become exactly what you think you are, but better.

NEO: Which of your performances was the most exciting?

Sedric: That’s tough. A lot of things can make a good performance, but I’ve been back in the city singing again and the feeling I get, playing with the best musicians in the world is pretty orgasmic.

NEO: If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Sedric: To be honest, I wish I could wipe homophobia, sexism, and white supremacy from existence, because it’s laced in there in ways you can’t imagine. It’s why a lot of my art and performance style is centred around self expression and resisting systems.

NEO: What is the most memorable moment in your career so far?

Sedric: I remember playing my first Pride festival in Germany last year with our duo FHAT. It had been a hard year, and we stressed each other out a bit at rehearsals, but the moment it was show time we had so much fun. It was nice to be seen and appreciated. The crowd was so in love with us, and we got to stay in a hotel and feel fancy. I’m sure most artists just want to feel appreciated for their work i'm that way.

NEO: What is your creative process like?

Sedric: Erykah Badu said something that stuck with me - about uploading and downloading data. I feel like my life experiences (love, painful moments, happy milestones) are me uploading information, until that spark of creativity hits and I have to download that information through writing, singing, dancing. I’m a Leo, we’re always creating. It’s like a need.

NEO: How would you describe your music journey so far?

Sedric: It’s been fun. The coolest part is hearing your voice or lyrics out in the world, like at the gym, on Netflix or on vacation somewhere. I’m not the type of person to limit myself to one genre, so a lot of times it’s a shot in the dark. But that’s usually what people gravitate toward the most. I’ve gotten to be so free with the music, I’m thankful I’ve had a journey like that.

NEO: What’s next for you?

Sedric: Part one of the EP is coming in the early spring. I’m excited about that. Outside of that I want to travel a lot more and learn some new languages. I feel like this album really concludes a chapter of my life. So I’m ready to get some new inspiration and try new things. Obviously perform as well. Also I’ve been wanting to make these headpieces, so I want to learn how to design my own headwear.

NEO: Finally, let us know where to find you on social media!

Sedric: It’s @sedricperry on everything. I’m on IG and Youtube. Recently I been getting more into Tiktok. It’s pretty fun!
