The Moon

The Moon is a Compton, California-based R&B Soul & Pop artist whose radiant spirit can be felt across her community and around the world. Her aura and soothing voice take her listeners to euphoria as she conveys relatable stories in her songs. She sees her music as a unifying force, a spiritually connected glue with meaningful messages sent out into the world. Influenced by artists such as Sade,  Kendrick Lamar, and Frank Ocean, Moon still adds her unique flavour and tone to the music space. Her mission is to leave the same legacy as those who have always inspired and preceded her, while also giving back to her community.

NEO: Hi, The Moon. Thanks for featuring on Neo, and congratulations on your debut EP release, ‘AURA’ - It’s amazing! Could you tell us what it’s about and also what inspired you to create this project?

THE MOON: My debut EP, “AURA” is a work of art that tells stories of peace, love, passion, and

forgiveness. “AURA” is confident, it’s sexy, it’s beautiful, and multi-layered. Each song allows my

listeners to get to know me and my artistry more as the project unfolds. I was inspired by what

was unfolding around me in my life.

NEO: Where are you from and how does that influence the type of music you create?

THE MOON: Growing up in Compton, California I can definitely say that my environment has had a great impact on my music and the art that I create. My city might not be “pretty” in the eyes of others,

but through my eyes I see so much beauty around me. My city has inspired my lyrics, music

videos and the way I look at life. It's given me the ability to see the beauty in all things around

me even if others can't.

NEO: Could you tell us why you go by ‘The Moon’?

THE MOON: My name “ The Moon” was given to me as a child. I would stay up all hours of the night writing, singing and studying music videos. I’ve always felt the most alive and creative when the

moon is out.

NEO: You are left in the world with three songs: what would they be? And why?

THE MOON: So, I think this is the best question I've ever been asked! I love this question. Okay this is

hard but I got this. First up, I have to start with the legends of course. Number 1 is “By Your

Side” by Sade. My Number two “Thinkin bout you” by Frank Ocean. Number 3 is “Pure” by The

Moon...gets me every time.

NEO: Out of all the songs on your EP 'AURA', which is your favourite to perform?

THE MOON: Out of all the songs off of ‘AURA’, I’d have to say Pure is my favourite to perform.There is

something so heavenly about this track that puts me in a calm state of mind. When I perform it

live I see people in the audience embracing one another. This track gives off such a loving and

warm energy that fills the room.

NEO: What is the first thing people notice about you?

THE MOON: ’d say the first thing people notice when they see me is my energy and style. I'm kinda an undercover stylist...in my head.

NEO: What are your biggest pet peeves?

THE MOON: My biggest pet peeve would have to be when I when people don't play music loud enough, I want to feel every instrument in my veins lol so it has to be loud!

NEO: If you could create a fortune cookie give to yourself when you were 16, what would it say?

THE MOON: If I were to give teenage Moon a fortune cookie it would say, “ You have know clue how far being yourself and creating the music you truly love will take you. Shoot for the moon! Also, don't

worry about that heartbreak you have coming, you ended up making a whole project that you love

about it!”

NEO: Are you working on any upcoming releases that we need to look out for?

THE MOON: There might or might not be a Deluxe in the works for my debut EP ‘AURA’ with some pretty dope features. Stay tuned!

NEO: What has the biggest highlight of your music journey been so far?

THE MOON: The biggest highlight thus far in my career was when I dropped my first EP ‘AURA’ . The

amount of love and support I’ve been receiving is everything I’ve prayed for. I'm very excited for

the future and to take things to the next level.
